In April 2014, SPL became the first privately owned laundry in Australia to receive tri-certification. We implemented an Integrated Management System and obtained tri-certification for ISO 9001 Quality Management System, ISO 14001 Environmental Management System & ISO 45001 Occupational Health and Safety Management System which has enhanced the overall quality we provide to our customers and a delivery of service that further protects our environment and our people.

How SPL's Clean Room Process Works
SPL operates a purpose-built Clean Room facility, designed to the highest standards of hygiene and process integrity. All work is performed in a separated area with stringent access restrictions, dedicated hand-washing stations, and mandatory outer garments for all personnel.
Following the compliant AS 4146:2024 Laundry Practice process linen is transferred to our dedicated Clean Room. Each item is individually inspected for holes, staining, and lint before moving to the bundling area, where packs are prepared and sterilised using either Reusable Barrier Fabric (RBF) wraps or Kimguard single-use wrappers to maintain a sterile barrier that protects the integrity of the bundle contents.
Once sterilised and settled, packs are sealed into strong plastic bags and placed into cleaned, cling-wrapped plastic capsule trolleys. Sterile bundles are only transported from the dedicated room once fully sealed and secured for delivery to customers.
Compliance You Can Count On
All linen is processed in full compliance with AS 4146:2024 and the relevant clauses of AS 5369:2023. Every batch is assigned a unique batch number recorded in a batch book, accompanied by the steriliser compliance printout.
SPL’s sterilisers are validated by equipment supplier Getinge, with weekly biological tests and daily Bowie Dick tests conducted to verify correct steriliser function. In addition, SPL undertakes monthly aerobic bacterial plate testing to confirm that linen samples meet the required threshold of fewer than 1 microorganism/cm² using the contact plate method.
